What is the role and importance of multiplatform integration in health care IT systems? Describe how multiple integrated solutions evolve in a large health care organization and the challenges incurred for both the clinical and technical staff. When a new system or application is considered for implementation, what are some vital factors that must be considered within the framework of the existing architecture? Role and Importance of Multiplatform Integration in Health Care IT Systems This paper aims to describe how multiple integrated solutions have been evolving in a healthcare organization and the technical and clinical staff’s challenges during their daily service delivery using the system. Healthcare information must be accessed when required anywhere, including remote locations, to facilitate smooth and seamless communication between healthcare workers (Sittig et al., 2018). The information system should also allow patient registration, coordinating schedules in the hospital, and managing clinical information. Multiplatform integration in the healthcare IT system occurs when the integration of different health professions and specialists in an institution is merged to work together to provide services that are joined up (Sittig et al., 2018). Multiple integrated solutions evolve when the implemented electronic health technology cannot meet the requirement needed in the organization. It may occur as a result of a lack of communication among healthcare professionals. The evolution can also occur because it may be favorable to some healthcare workers, such as laboratory staff, while it may not be suitable for nurses in providing flow sheets (Sligo et al., 2017). The hospital departmental system needs multiple pathways for exchanging data because the electronic medical record is not favorable to all the departments. This allows new vendors to enter the market and specialize in every unit’s specific needs in the health organization. These units may then seek to take advantage of such specialization, which may not match the current electronic medical record (Yen et al., 2017). Several considerations drive the organizational choice of multiplatform integration in the health care IT system. Such factors include the history of their IT infrastructure, the safety risk of the infrastructure, and the volume of care data, Patient insight, and the frequency with which the patients move from one unit to another (Yen et al., 2017). In conclusion, when a new application is being considered, the health organization should consider its strategic management. This is one of the essential activities any organization is expected to have. References Sittig, D.F., Belmont, E., & Singh, H. (2018).
